Monex recommended ETF

Post by HeavyMetal »

Guys, need a recommendation
If I had Monex account + regular NISA
And wanted to buy few indexes ETFs, let's say S&P500, Nasdaq, and Nikkei
And I guess it is better done without converting JPY to USD (also conversion system seems a bit dumb at Monex, as they told me they "do it once a day"... weird)
So I'd need local JPY ETFs to indexes mentioned above
What would be better, in terms of fees? I know people praise some eMaxis slim here, they're available for mentioned indexes? (If you could give tickers would be fantastic)
Also I wonder do hedged ETFs exist here?
Do not read kanji at all, thus questions... But have Monex account 8-)
Thanks!!

eMaxis Slim are mutual funds, not ETFs. Scroll down to the graphic half way down the page for the lineup: https://emaxis.jp/lp/slim/pr1/index.html

You should be able to use Google Translate or similar on the page.

There isn't an Emaxis Slim fund for the NASDAQ, but there is an Emaxis one. Emaxis funds are the predecessors to the Emaxis Slim series and have higher fees.

Here's a list of ETFs you can buy in Japan. https://www.jpx.co.jp/english/equities/ ... 01-08.html

Yes, there ARE Maxis ETFS.

First was the Maxis mutual funds, then the Emaxis Slim funds, then the Maxis ETFs.

Also, it seems two of them ARE currency hedged.

Here are the QQQ, VOO, and VT clones.

Thanks for replies everyone!!! Really appreciate.
I think I'll go with last post's option cause those are hedged and also ETF is something I prefer over mutual funds.
I see those US index Maxis ETFs are real new - just released on Feb. 25 2021. Sad I cannot see history therefore (they're available on Trading View) but since they're UFJ guess I won't have problems with them.
If there are any thoughts on it always welcome.
Thanks again :)

Why do you prefer ETFs, out of interest?

Less hassle/diversification, that sort of things...
Oh, or you meant over mutual funds.
Transparency and selling at any time. Also I believe ETFs have cheaper fees

TBS wrote a great thread comparing ETFs to Mutual Funds, at least for the Maxis funds.
