Re: Passive Investing -> Beyond NISA and iDeCo
One of my very first stock market investments was a Russia fund about 15 years ago, simply because it had gone up SO MUCH in the previous couple of years. The old adage about what goes up having to come down certainly proved to be true. It was a good and not too expensive lesson really, I had only ...

Re: NISA newcomer
Thanks. I am checking with my workplace to see if they have some provision for doing an automatic iDeco setup as described in the Retire Japan Guide to iDeco. If they are not connected, I am going to set up my own account, and am thinking about just depositing cash into it. Are you suggesting that ...

Re: NISA newcomer
You should look into iDeCo as you get tax relief on any money you put in. As you are 55 you will be able to get your money out sometime in your 60's (you need to confirm this).

Re: The corona effect
Some of the newer RJ readers may not remember me, but older posters may remember how I yelled at people to avoid bitcoin (sigh), yelled at people to avoid the lure of the 'loans in Japan are like free money', strongly encouraged people to pay down debt first and not play the 'take out a loan and in...

Re: SBI account setup - confirm allocation
Is it possible to change my fund selection at all? What with the current situation in the world I'm wondering if I should tweak some things. I'm wondering what level of iDeCo you qualify for. Some people are only allowed to invest 12,000 yen a month. This is the same as a monthly membership at a sp...

Re: Bank loan for small company
He says that although technically a company is 'limited' the Director will need to act as personal guarantor. This is my understanding although of course it depends on the details of the loan agreement you sign. In general, Japan is one of the worse places if you go down the route of defaulting on ...

Re: Bank loan for small company
I'm considering applying for bank loan instead of digging into my personal savings. As I understand, defaulting on a company loan doesn't have any effect on personal credit rating. Hopefully this is correct info because it's a big deal as far as I'm concerned. What is the difference between default...

Getting Tax Relief on IDeCo
When doing the annual tax return, is there any paperwork required to ensure that the appropriate tax relief is given for those with iDeCos? I am an independent contractor.
Thanks in advance for any comments.

Re: "Everything You Wanted To Know About Not Paying Pension"
I don't see how anyone saves money in this economy. Everyone posting on this website seem to have piles of cash for pensions and saving schemes so I would argue it is possible to get save money in this economy. Yes. It is all about priorities. I know one guy who says after paying for basics like al...
