Re: Ideco - Recommended point to switch focus to Nisa.
Stage 1 Ideco+Nisa (until iDeco is at 15-20 million) Stage 2 Nisa (until the New Nisa is Full) Stage 3 Ideco+Taxable (until retirement) At stage 2 it seems the income tax reduction from ideco is less advantageous, versus the extra tax you will need to pay. Thoughts? You'll probably want to continue...

Re: Ideco - Recommended point to switch focus to Nisa.
Why wouldn't you want to max both iDeCo and NISA? For iDeCo you are getting income out of your current marginal tax bracket so it has advantages over investing in a regular taxable brokerage account once you have maxxed out the NISA limits. (I am not following the logic for stopping use of the iDeC...

Re: Ideco - Recommended point to switch focus to Nisa.
Is your calculation assuming you wish to take 100% of the iDeCo as retirement income? Or is it able to factor in a hybrid mix of retirement income (lump-sum) and pension income (annuity¥ combo? Because I’d say continuing ideco is better for you, if you were to withdraw as a retirement income/pension...

Re: No iDeCo deduction from salary?
I'm in the same boat. (Employer filled out form but wants me to arrange my iDeCo payments myself). Before I set it up I have a few questions: 1. Does the payment need to made from the same bank account that my salary is paid into? My salary is paid into my local inaka bank account. But that account...

Re: UK Budget - Pension increase
Seen the most recent net migration numbers..... For sure they will become pensioners in the all too distant future, but when they come, they are taxpayers.... Most recent immigrants tend to do low skilled jobs. According to official figures low-income earners cost the country a net 150,000 pounds t...

Re: iDeco & Company DC Plan coexistence
Also the tax deductible is just for your contributions, not your employer’s contributions. but you’re correct that you’re not taxed for your employer’s contributions so it’s essentially free money for you from your employer It seems that another option is not joining the Company DC. In that case it...

Re: iDeco & Company DC Plan coexistence
It sounds like You have a matching type Company DC. Which just to correct you, your employer is not matching what you pay, your employer dictates how much they pay, and then you can opt to match up to that amount, as long as the combination of both don’t exceed ¥55k per month. Also the tax deductibl...

Re: IDeCo changes December 2024
I’d just like the ability to be able to contribute to the matching DC and Ideco simultaneously But if they did ever increase it that would be great. I’ve been doing the up to ¥20,000 into iDeCo since October 2022 law change (for a few reasons) and I have just been keeping the iDeCo going on the hope...

Re: Zairyu card request at Hospital
I am guessing your hospital is using similar guidance as this hospital. https://www.tmhp.jp/hiroo/en/non-japanese-eng.html Please note that our hospital asks any non-Japanese patients to present a photo ID (Residence card, Passport or equivalent) and makes a photocopy of the ID for the following rea...

Re: Wife's Japanese Passport Name
It won’t work because the brackets in the passport are just Alias, they are not part of a person’s legal name. See here: https://www.mofa.go.jp/ca/pss/page3e_001033.html So like mentioned, your wife’s legal name is Suzuki, meaning she needs to travel as Suzuki on the ticket. Otherwise you’re always ...
