2025 New NISA Terms and Conditions
Happy New Year Everyone! Today, I noticed some updates to the NISA terms and conditions that took effect on January 1st. Could someone please clarify what these changes mean, especially for contributors who lose their residency, such as Japanese individuals who have moved abroad? Thank you! https://...

Re: Simple Q&A - iDeCo
I am not really after the savings for doing it annually. I would still like to contribute ¥6,700 monthly (category 1 with kokumin nenkin kikin) for dollar-cost averaging etc, but since I am starting my iDeCo mid-year, I am considering either a one-time whole-year lump sum just for this year or payin...

Re: Simple Q&A - iDeCo
After a long wait, I expect to have my iDeCo account ready by August. My question is, can I pay a lump sum for the months that I missed (January to July)? I see some people here saying that iDeCo does not have an annual allowance and contributions should be made monthly, but there are articles onlin...

Re: Simple Q&A - iDeCo
I decided to set up my iDeco account with SBI the other day. However, each time I'm about to input my bank information, the error message below shows up. I've tried redoing the entire process from the beginning four times already at different times of the day, but with no luck. Does anyone know what...

Re: iDeCo and US citizens
I was talking to SBI iDeco chat this morning, and this is what they told me. What do you think? I don't know if I should 100% believe what a customer support representative says, but I'm sure they have some kind of training about this, right?" https://i.ibb.co/T8PDKN7/Smart-Select-20240304-1136...

Re: Moving outside of Japan
I'm just talking about my personal experiences; like I said, everyone I know has a Japanese mom and an American dad.

Re: Moving outside of Japan
That makes a lot of sense, since most if not all of the people I know with dual citizenship have a Japanese mom and an American (military) dad.

Re: Moving outside of Japan
I just find it interesting that while Japan doesn't officially recognize dual citizenship, there are people with both Japanese and American citizenship who live in Japan without issues. The AI also highlights this discrepancy between the law and its practical enforcement. However, I will delete my p...
