Re: MUFJ Nisa application taking time?
This year after JNISA stopped, any purchases for minors into their brokerage accounts have to be done in person at a branch. Eh? I thought you said above that eMSAC is an online-only product? :? Yup, the eMaxis range is online only, they offer a range of other funds that can be purchased in person....

Re: MUFJ Nisa application taking time?
Just to let you know: if you are looking to purchase the MUFJ eMaxis Slim All-Country fund, you can't do that online through the MUFJ online banking portal. You have to go in-person to a branch to make a purchase. Actually you may not be able to get it for your kids even if we went into a branch. W...

Re: home purchase while still on work visa
I went with MUFG before I got my PR, wife isn't Japanese either. They just required us to have a 20% deposit.

Re: Need advice: take profits?
Well, gosh darn it... I will look into creating accounts at Monex for my kids. It will beat having to keep track of things on a spreadsheet. Thanks for the advice on this. Through the MUFG online banking portal, there are a couple of options to invest, but they don't allow anyone under 18 to partak...

Re: Barclays UK closing expat accounts ?
I got the account closure notice via the online banking inbox.
I was lucky, the letters had been sitting there for maybe 2 months before I had noticed it. They sent one for the bank account and another for Barclaycard.

Re: Best stockbroker for non-Japanese?
Can't remember what the process was for Rakuten, but I just opened a SBI account. Basically filled in the online stuff to request the paper forms, filled those out, I wasn't requesting NISA so got my login details around a week later. Logged in for the first time just now to get set up only to find ...

Re: Voluntary UK pension contribution
Yeah I wasted close to a year. The first round was around 9 months only to find I had accidentally ticked on class 3. My second attempt was much quicker, around 3 months - I had to reapply, they couldn't change it over the phone. Apparently in the new online application, you don't get to specify cla...

Re: Bitcoin: So at the end of the day, is it worth it?
Is it possible to buy Bitcoin ETFs through Rakuten Securities ? I can't seem to find any... Tho I don't even dabble in it, access to those ETFs, along with COIN, MARA, RIOT, MSTR..., are one advantage for US investors. It's only the ETFs that we can't get here right? I can see those stocks are avai...

Re: Will Japan copy the new British ISA?
If you are tax resident in Japan, how does investing off-shore help you avoid taxes? I invested in an off-shore plan once, but you still have to pay tax in Japan on your gains at Japanese rates, don't you? Or is there something I'm missing (probably!)? Maybe move to somewhere like HK or SG before c...
