Re: Renosy

I have some experience with Renosy. They are well organized and tech focused with apps, notifications, most documentation online among others. But at the same time I found them to be expensive compared to other companies I met. i.e. the properties they were selling were on average at 5-7% higher pr...

Re: PRESTIA (SMBC) - Private Banking

I have some USD funds with a Swiss private bank in Singapore that I am thinking of transferring to Japan. The bank in Singapore is about to introduce a $10K relationship fee which I am not interested in paying. The money in Singapore is taxed in Japan.( FYI I live in Tokyo, British national, mono-l...

Re: Brokers asking for zairyu card copies over and over again

Haven’t heard a word from Rakuten in years. My wife did have to submit it once for SBI in 4 years.

In my case the bill is addressed only to me although my wife is a joint owner (50%) in our home. Not sure why. Maybe because my name appears first in list of registration. Or could be because I am the household head.

Re: Moving assets to Japan

I will transferring my trading account to Japan this year, so I will need to file a tax return for dividends and any potential capital gains in 2022. So if I need to file a tax return anyway, and China and Japan have a tax treaty, I guess it doesn't really matter if I remit all income this year too...

Re: My Number Card expiry

The exception to this is permanent residents and those on Class 2 Highly Skilled Professional visas. The My Number Card expiry date should then be decoupled from your 在留カード expiry date, i.e. 10 years for the My Number Card even if your 在留カード is only 7 years. After 10 years you can renew the My Numb...

Re: SBI account confusion

That's dividends, but if I actually sell stocks from the 米国株式(現物/一般預り)account, no tax will be withheld? If so, I should move to the 米国株式(現物/特定預り)account for an easy life? Edit: I checked and in my case, too, the shares in the Ippan a/c were from a stock split. No idea why they do that. Yes, you wil...

Re: Want to accumulate MileagePlus Miles (by UNITED AIR) frugally

I have considered this since the transfer options are good, but the fee seems too high to justify it. Of course, if you aren't able to access the American offerings there may not be many other good choices. Like others, I use my MP on other Star Alliance airlines (Lufthansa, Asiana etc), ideally bu...

Re: Net Worth Poll

It would be great if this poll could be coupled with age bracket data as well. People who are closer to retirement and have had long careers are likely to have much higher savings and net worth level and would be great to see how the this level normalizes with age.
