Thanks everyone! It's entirely up to you, really :D I count cash savings, investments in NISA, iDeCo, and taxable. Welcome! You'll be pleased to know your iDeCo allowance will be going up to 20,000 yen later this year. Finally. Sorry to hijack the thread here but are IDECO limits changing for any other types of contributor? I am lucky to have a company DECO so im capped at 20,000 yen but would love to contribut...

I think 1 year plus might not be unlikely, I put mine in in February and was told 1 year. A friend has been waiting 14 months, another got theirs in January after having applied just before christmas 2022 crazy though it may seem.

limits on transferring money from abroad for income tax return

I am in the process of moving some savings money / premium bonds from the uk to Japan taking advantage of the favorable exchange rate. Is there any limit on how much I can transfer into Japan (from the uk if it makes any difference?) before I need to declare it as income for my tax return? Thank you!
