I'm sure this has been asked before and I did a search but couldn't find the information...

Re: RRSP: cash-out and move it to Japan?
An important caveat, the parent must be a first-generation Canadian for this to be true. Applying for Canadian citizenship certificates and passports is very worthwhile as it will give your children more options in the future. Right. Which I why I mentioned being born in Canada. I agree that it is ...

Re: RRSP: cash-out and move it to Japan?
Just a heads up, your children don't need to be 'registered' to be considered Canadian citizens legally. If you were born in Canada (and haven't renounced your citizenship), your children automatically are Canadian citizens regardless of where they are born. It doesn't matter if you have gone throug...

Re: Transfering money from a Rakuten minor account to another Rakuten account
I may have figured it out... it seems that you can only do it by designating a withdrawal account. So I've set up the withdrawal account and gone through the procedure now. Seems like it will take a couple of days... wasn't expecting it to be so complicated...

Re: Transfering money from a Rakuten minor account to another Rakuten account
Sorry, I'm dumb. It's Rakuten証券, not Rakuten銀行... so transferring money out of my children's Rakuten Securities account, not bank account.

Re: Transfering money from a Rakuten minor account to another Rakuten account
Thanks for the reply. I set up a minor's account in Rakuten for my children but I still control it. I understand about the gift tax, it's not a problem. The problem I'm having is that I don't know the procedure for transferring money from one Rakuten account to another. I'm unfamiliar with the websi...

Transfering money from a Rakuten minor account to another Rakuten account
I have money in my child's Rakuten bank account, but since I can no longer add it to junior NISA, I'd prefer to transfer it to my Rakuten account to use for my own NISA. Does anyone have experience doing this? It seems like it should be simple but I feel like I'm missing something because I cannot f...

Re: Moving money into a Rakuten junior NISA account
Thanks for the replies. Seems that I'm too late since they aren't even letting me transfer the funds to the Junior NISA account. Oh well, guess I'll just use the taxable account...

Moving money into a Rakuten junior NISA account
I'm sure this is an easy question so sorry... I recently set up a junior NISA account for my kids and added money to the Rakuten account through bank transfer but when I try to buy mutual funds, it seems that I cannot select the option to buy from the junior NISA account on the purchase screen. Does...
