Re: Do you have a retirement plan / project?
Reading the comments, I feel very much the same about travel. It's just not as appealing now as it once was, and there are a variety of reasons. In terms of a retirement plan, yes, my plan is to have a small hobby farm in Japan, maybe Shikoku. By using regenerative farming and permaculture technique...

I'm impressed with his determination and with the court's decision.

Efficiencies may increase, markets once closed might open up, etc. And ... there is always the possibility that things will change, and pop will start to rise again. Investing in an Age of Population Decline (How?)
I would like to hear your thoughts on how we, as investors, can invest wisely and still get good returns on our investments in an age of population decline.

Re: PR after only 1 YEAR!??!
Right, I don't actually want a PR to start with. I just saw the post about getting it after only 1 year and thought it was really interesting, and maybe even possible, and knew that someday, it will be something I would want to do, and having it, there are advantages. If my wife does not travel with...

Re: PR after only 1 YEAR!??!
I agree that there is a credibility issue. Since my wife is not going to be with me, I think the Japanese authorities would not approve it. I mean, she is going to be there when I arrive, for a week, and will visit every other month or so, but it's not the same. She can't even be my sponsor for my s...

Permanent Residency after only One Year (Possible?)

Re: Putting it all together: family coming to live in Japan - How To
You might consider Panama. Voted the number one destination for retirees in the world, multiple times. They have a very simple and generous visa program for retirees. I know this is a Japan forum, but when you said things are untenable now, where you are, and you want to "get out of dodge"...
