Re: My case (overseas investment, capital gains, refinancing mortgage)

At the present time I have made 8% on my contributions which is not too bad. I'm not sure how I would go about creating a spreadsheet where I can run simulations comparing my investment with its fees compared to NISA with its almost non-existent fees. If anyone can show me a template then I would r...

Re: Pros and cons with buying farm land

Just wonder if anyone has any experience with buying farm land. It's actually my wife who's keen on it as she sees it as a good investment and she likes to potter around in fields. She also has a small business so I wonder if she decides to buy this, is she better to buy it under her business name ...

Re: Cancelled English Camp, where's my refund?

Thanks everyone for all the replies and advice. I feel less angry because of the great advice. We will all probably just write the letter ourselves and leave it at that. We are pretty confident that the schools won't be advertising for them until we get our money back.

Cancelled English Camp, where's my refund?

One of my children were supposed to attend a English Camp with two of their friends back in August 2024. We prepaid the roughly 30000 yen for our child. The camp was cancelled because of a typhoon. We were sent a letter awhile later asking if we wanted to rebook or get all our money refunded. We pic...

Re: Furusato nozei changes from October

If you search "カナダ人農園主" on your furosato site you might see my grapes. No hits on Rakuten. Are you on there? About to start the Furusato splurge... Thanks for the interest. Sorry to say we are just at the end of our harvest and we stopped our orders on the furosatonozei sites. We are on R...

Re: Furusato nozei changes from October

Grapes are in season right now. I highly recommend grapes but I am biased because I am the farmer who grows them. :D If you search "カナダ人農園主" on your furosato site you might see my grapes. We are currently selling them on 3 of the furosatonozei sites. I can confirm the shain muscat are ver...

Re: RRSP: cash-out and move it to Japan?

You should call the CRA help line to ask about this -- it's a pain in the ass with the time difference and waiting time but I believe you can call collect. The couple of times I had to call the people I talked to really knew what they were talking about and had clear answers for things that I never...

Re: RRSP: cash-out and move it to Japan?

I've been thinking about this topic's headline a lot lately. And maybe I should be moving my RRSP to Japan and putting my funds in NISA to grow tax free. Here is what I have come up with pros and cons. According to government of Canada website Non-resident of Canada have to pay 25% tax on RRSP withd...
