Re: Current Rakuten Securities - RCash - RCard (gold?) situation.

The points for RCash are earned through charging through the card and not through purchasing the MF. If you check, you will notice that your points are given out by Rakuten Card and not Rakuten Securities. So its basically a benefit to using Rakuten Cash and NOT buying mutual funds through Rakuten ...

Current Rakuten Securities - RCash - RCard (gold?) situation.

Hello again, I finally got set up with Rakuten Securities this year and managed to fill my annual allowance. Now that is all sorted, I'm theory crafting the most efficient way to fill next year's allowance. Rakuten sucked me in and I ended up also switching my phone and signing up for the Credit Car...

Re: No iDeCo deduction from salary?

However, I don't think you will be able to make December Contribution now. I think it is too late and the paperwork takes quite a long time to process... The withdrawal from your bank account will be on a specified day every month by Direct Debit, and if there are insufficient funds, you will miss ...

Re: No iDeCo deduction from salary?

2. After making a years worth of payments, I can then reclaim the tax on my 年末調整? I assume I will get a refund for the excess income tax I paid, but how does the residence tax work? Is that also refunded? Or does it simply function to reduce the total payments for the next year? For income tax the ...

Re: No iDeCo deduction from salary?

I'm in the same boat. (Employer filled out form but wants me to arrange my iDeCo payments myself). Before I set it up I have a few questions: 1. Does the payment need to made from the same bank account that my salary is paid into? My salary is paid into my local inaka bank account. But that account ...

Making sense of mutual fund prices.

So I decided to start tracking my investments in a spreadsheet. But when transferring the numbers over I noticed the math for my purchases was off by a factor of 10,000. e.g. buying ¥100,000 of eMAXIS Slim 全世界株式 gave me 37,766 shares (口), and the unit price (準価) was ¥26,479. Multiplying the number o...

Re: U.K. Discretionary Gift Trust & Japansese Gift / Inheritance Tax

There is always the Early Inheritance Clause which would allow you to receive Y25M Free of Gift Tax now, but have it included in the Estate for Inheritance Tax when your father passes. https://retirewiki.jp/wiki/Inheritance_tax#Inheritance_tax,_gifts,_and_the_2023_revised_tax_code Yes, I will almos...

Re: U.K. Discretionary Gift Trust & Japansese Gift / Inheritance Tax

Usual caveats, but your option 3 sounds worth investigating to me. You have never actually had possession of any money as far as I can see, and if there is no trust anymore there is no gift... If that were possible, would you not be better off waiting to actually inherit rather than go down the gif...

Re: U.K. Discretionary Gift Trust & Japansese Gift / Inheritance Tax

I'm also trying to understand the penalties that might be involved, but I'm finding this document impenatrable. https://www.nta.go.jp/english/taxes/others/01/14001.htm It's pretty dense... Can anyone help? I'm gathering there are two penalties involed: Deliquent Tax (for late payment) & Addition...
