Re: Principal investment/gains separated when selling?
In your bullet points are you leaving out some purchases that caused your average share price to jump from 500 to 625? The calculation after that looks right. (750 - 625) x 80 = 10,000 yen in profit which is subject to capital gains taxation. Ah, sorry, the 625 is the average share price between 50...

Re: Principal investment/gains separated when selling?
You have to think in terms of share value when determining capital gains taxation. You buy 100 shares at 100 yen each, your average share price is 100 yen. Then you buy 100 shares at 110 yen each, your average share price is now 105 yen. Then you sell 50 shares at 120 yen each. We can calculate the...

Re: Principal investment/gains separated when selling?
I believe how this is handled is that brokers track the average purchase price (for funds or shares), then subtract that from the price you sell it for. The difference (if positive) is the capital gain. Capital gains tax is due on that amount unless in a NISA or iDeCo account. If you have had capit...

Principal investment/gains separated when selling?
I think I might have asked this question before, but I can't, for the life of me, find the thread that I may have started. Apologies, if this is my second time asking this. If I have 10万 invested in a mutual fund, and the investment has increased in value to 15万, if I sell 7万 of that investment, wil...

Re: Credit card applications: facial scanning?
This is getting more and more common in general. I have had to do it a few times recently, for non-business accounts. Not sure if you will be able to avoid it in the future. Eeek. I feel uneasy about unknown entities having a vector-scan of my face... :? what a world. Thanks for your input, beanhead.

Credit card applications: facial scanning?
I just applied for a business credit card (MoneyForward). During the process, they required a 180-degree scan of your face/head. This surprised me, as, for the last couple of credit cards I was approved for, not even a selfie photo was necessary. Is it because this credit card I am applying for is a...

Re: Medication, Generic V Brand medication.
Agree OTC drugs in Japan are horrifically expensive, but a least you can include them as part of medical expenses in your tax return... Woah, wait, you can claim medical expenses on a tax return? I had been seishain up until last month (started my own company since), so I am pretty unaware of what ...

Invoicing software with Wise integration
I am searching for a decent invoicing software to manage client payments. From a Google search, I've found this page on the Wise website. However, not all of their recommendations include Wise as a payment method. A bit weird, as I expected that all of their recommendations would include Wise, but I...

Re: Emaxis slim all country
"Past performance is not indicitive of future results", but a similar drop happened to the eMaxis Slim All Country in 2020. Who knows what the future holds (if the price will drop even more than in 2020, or the recovery will be similar, etc.), but there is a history of the fund gaining bac...
