個人事業 - Services to foreign company

Hi all, I just retired as employee of a large US multinational. As part of the plan to fill in my post-retirement time, I may provide consulting services to my previous employer, I understand from various earlier forum "conversations" that I can simply do this as 個人事業. Apparently, there is...

Re: Retirement Allowances (taishokukin 退職金)

...with the lump-sum you get this special tax treatment, indicated in this thread, but with the pension option, I think this cannot exist. ... Correct. Tho that may depend how IDECO-like the pension option might be. The other aspect is to consider with the lump sum is the returns you might make on ...

Re: Retirement Allowances (taishokukin 退職金)

Captain, I think half of your 退職金 above 15 million yen were taxable income the following year. So, how many months out of those 47.5 were gone because of taxes? Taishokukin receives special tax treatment under the 退職金控除. You accumulate a tax-free allowance as follows: 400,000 yen per year for the f...

For trading, taxable account is better.
Thanks.
No big issue, because of the gain I realized, but I should have known this upfront.

Re: Selling shares - available NISA space

Yes, you're wrong. The current NISA only allows 1.2M purchases within the NISA account per year (assuming you're using regular). Selling anything doesn't give you back that space. The new NISA coming next year will allow you to sell to get back the 18M lifetime NISA limit but we don't know if the p...

Re: Travel insurance recommendation?

I'm going to two locations for 40 days in total. It seems Tabiho doesn't let you choose a holiday for more than 31 days. Other insurerers I've checked don't allow multiple locations. I’ve used World Nomads for similar trips in the past. Never had to make a claim so can’t comment on that part of it,...

Selling shares - available NISA space

Hi all, Here’s a question from a NISA rooky. I bought shares in my 2023 NISA space. All good here. Now I sold these shares with gain, but the cash doesn’t seem to stay in my NISA space…… I though you should be able to trade (buy, sell, buy, sell) within the NISA space, as long as you stay within the...

Re: SBI証券 trading conditions

focus on holding high/stable shares of Japanese companies ..... doing a market order is better. I strongly disagree with this. Limit orders (marketable limit orders) are the way to go. https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Order I too think that limit orders (like stop-loss orders) can be important not t...

Re: SBI証券 trading conditions

Thanks for your advice. Actually, I am not actively trading, but focus on holding high/stable dividend shares of Japanese companies (with limited currency exposure). Still understanding more about the trading conditions is good, I think. Unfortunately, all explanations are in Japanese, which is a bi...

SBI証券 trading conditions

Hi all, I am struggling to understand the trading conditions for orders in the SBI証券 system. I am particularly interested in how to setup a sales order with a limit (if the price goes beyond) or a stop-loss sales order (if the price goes below a defined level). I see terms like 寄指, 引指, 寄成, 引成, 不成, 逆...
