Re: Buying the dip, speculating

Just bought it -thanks for the tip :) It's a good book. Kay's explanation of how momentum rules in the short run, whereas mean reversion rules in the long run, using the investment styles of George Soros and Warren Buffet as an example, is another good part of the book. Investment strategies for im...

Re: Buying the dip, speculating

And here I was thinking the savvy investor was the one who didn't buy a losing stock, because they just bought the whole market, and they do not have to deal with the scenario in the first place. :) I'm sure the most savviest of investors could be forgiven for having one or two losing positions if ...

Re: FI/RE Financial Independence, Retire Early

There was a bit of a FIRE boom in Japan a couple of years ago (around when Atsugiri Jason put his first book out). Quite a bit of interest on the talk shows, etc. (that one with the mole puppets had an episode featuring really weird FIRE people that ate grass from public parks, etc.) But everyone s...

Re: Buying the dip, speculating

With mutual funds you typically don't care about the price, only how much money you will invest. If you are going to buy and hold for 40 years, the price doesn't matter. Even if you are buying the ETF planning to hold it, the price doesn't matter. You want to be sure your order executes though. If ...

Re: Buying the dip, speculating

To clarify, why isn’t 1655 more popular than eMAXIS Slim 米国株式(S&P500? The latter has a lag when you buy or sell, so you don’t actually know the price you’re buying/selling, unlike 1655. You seem to be looking at the mutual fund eMaxis Slim 米国株式(S&P500) rather than the ETF 2558 Maxis米株SP500. If ...

Re: eMAXIS Slim eMAXIS Slim 全世界株式(オール・カントリー) equivalent to buy same day

The ACWI is the ETF equivalent that you can trade in real time. If you wanted more diversification VT is also available. In Japan domestic ETFs might be easier (and more tax-efficient, at least for all-world funds). This is the ETF equivalent of the eMaxis Slim all-country: https://maxis.am.mufg.jp...

Re: Yen keeps going from strength to strength!

For example, Ryohon Keikaku provides a 7% off MUJI purchases perk valid for six months to shareholders of record. Their gross profit is 8.5% so this is not being subsidized by any overseas or institutional investor. Investors in Japanese companies are often avid fans of the companies and their prod...

Re: Yen keeps going from strength to strength!

Interesting. So where can I see how MUFG voted on each resolution of the 3,000 companies that they track in the eMaxis Slim All Country fund? Must take a lot of work to keep on top of all those companies... The Japanese Stewardship code applies to companies investing in Japanese listed companies.......
