Re: Sequence of returns risk and the 4% rule

I’m using the Monex Vision app to simulate my safe withdrawal amount, taking into consideration the changing asset mix of my remaining portfolio as the future events unfold. https://i.ibb.co/Xk7wCD5Q/IMG-5426.png One reason for not going by a fixed safe withdrawal rate is because I am currently rent...

Re: Japanese Stocks in the first Quarter 2025

I used to have Toyo Tires and Yokohama tires. Tires seem like a pretty stable business, so maybe I should have kept them. Yes. And Toyo Tires have excellent fundamentals, and high dividends coupled with a pretty modest dividend payout rate. Their US subsidiary has the coolest videos on their YouTub...

Re: NISA and gift tax

Re: Carson Block on passive investing

A really interesting video. Thanks for uploading it. I googled for the momentum effects of passive investing and this article from 2021 came up. It goes into some detail on the various studies which have been done on this topic. Food for thought! The Consequences of Passive Investing by Chris Yates ...

Re: Japanese Stocks in the first Quarter 2025

I think that a part of it is driven by the smart money getting out of overvalued assets and into assets which are comparatively indervalued (& of course, flight to safety), but yes the Japanese stocks I picked up last year haven’t been too shabby (having said that, my Peptidream and Ulvac stocks...

Saved a bit on my income tax payment with the F-REGI credit card tax payment site

This year, I made my kakuteishinkoku income tax payment via the F-REGI website , which allows you to pay your taxes with a credit/debit card. https://i.ibb.co/Qj1X9G9X/2025-03-13-17-53-42-koukin-f-regi-com-d6dbbcd9ced5.png There is a quite a high charge for going this route, which works out at somet...

Re: Selling property (short-term investment advice)

Sony bank also offers 0.8% now on 1 year time deposits. If you want to deposit more than 10M yen at a bank, it's good practice to split them up between several banks so your money is covered by the national deposit insurance (protects up to 10M yen for money you keep in current and time deposit acco...

Good English book section at Setagaya-ku Chuo Library

Just a heads up for residents of Setagaya.

TIL that the Setagayaku Chuo Library has quite a sizable English language books section. Maybe a good way to save money, if you like books?
