Recent recommendations for home insurance 火災保険?

Hi all. I am a long time renter (subsidized housing) and I have never had any sort of home insurance. Extremely silly on my behalf, I know. I figure that now I am a full grown somewhat responsible adult, I should get some sort of coverage. I’d like to get coverage for my personal possessions as the ...

Monex dCard points

Looks like docomo and Monex finally announced the points for buying mutual funds with the d card and d card gold. Things are looking pretty good to be honest. They even have a campaign for a short period to earn 5 percent points on mutual funds!

Re: Voluntary UK pension contribution

The thing I’m really struggling with is making the payments. I got a letter telling how much I owe for each year that I have missed and I that I can make payments for those years from the site they list. Turns out I can’t do that because I don’t live in England. Apparently expats have to add up the ...

NISA info in Japanese

Hi all. I (foreigner) have a NISA and my Japanese partner keeps telling me they’d like to start a NISA but she wants to fully understand it first. Great thinking in my humble opinion. However, she doesn’t seem to be making any headway. When I ask she just says I’ll check next weekend. Next weekend r...

Re: Pending- Law to revoke the permanent residency status of foreign nationals who fail to pay taxes

I wonder if this is a way to get rid of the older foreigners who have retired and can’t afford to pay their health insurance and taxes any more. Forget about everything they have contributed to Japan over the last 40-50 years. They are a drain on society, get rid of them. Very worrying!

Re: Credit card tsumitate increase

I’m waiting to find out about the percentage of points. If it’s not great I’ll move my nisa to SBI ...

Re: SBI Shinsei vs Wise for international transfer

I went with Wise in the end. Neither lloyds nor sbi could tell me if any other banks needed to be used to send the money! Thanks for the help!
