Re: NISA, T-NISA, New NISA…

If I switch to Tsumitate NISA at the end of 2023
Or should I switch right now for 2023, would it keep my current holdings tax-free until 2042? I read it's not possible to switch to T-NISA at the end of 2023.

NISA, T-NISA, New NISA…

I have a general NISA ending in 2026 (i.e., started in 2022) and I'm a bit lost about what to do now, with the new NISA coming in 2024. I apologize if any of these questions have already been answered in the forum —there are so many messages and "NISA" returns hundreds of them. 1. If I swi...

Leverage: using box spread loans with N225 options

I can’t find anybody publicly mentioning using box spreads to get cheaper leverage in the Japanese community, although we do have European-style Nikkei 225 options, brokers offering “basket” orders and several blogs discussing other investing patterns using options. It's very puzzling to me. A Nikke...

The original post's link doesn't work (it lacks the actual referral code). Here is one that works.

Inflation was 2.2% in March already (if you remove the exceptional "mobile carrier discount" from the 1.7% official CPI).

Re: Brokerage margin loans?

What portion of your retirement income would be supported by stock sales? (Vs. Pension / fixed income / cash?). Most of it. I'm planning around a 4% permanent withdrawal rate, at the moment. I would use margin loans as an hedge to price volatility, i.e. avoid repayments when my stocks are in a low ...

Re: Brokerage margin loans?

I don't know where you saw me making any assessment on downturns or upsides. If anything, I'm currently holding cash because I expect a big recession to hit this year. I only asked about what brokers provided margin loans. I also think that …as long as your margin interest rate is much lower than yo...

Re: Middles names and security accounts

I'm in the same situation. Same name format. I can't link my Rakuten Card to my Rakuten Securities account because the latter has my correct full name according to all my ID documents and the former has my correct name-without-middle-names according to the industry rules for names on credit cards. M...

Re: Brokerage margin loans?

But, then you have to pay back this loan, which you would do by selling the underlying assets. Still, it's essentially a loan against the future returns of the assets. Assuming an all-weather low-risk low-return portfolio with a growth rate still greater than the margin rate, it allows to spread yo...

Re: Brokerage margin loans?

Maybe I should have added that I expect to still have some non-regular source of income in retirement :D
Using margin loan with no external income would be a weird idea.
