Re: Simple Q&A - iDeCo

Hi. Does anyone have any updates on proposed increases to iDeCo contributions? I’m a company employee and I believe the maximum monthly amount I can put in is JPY23k (which I’ve yet to set up!), but this could increase to up to JPY61k per month soon. Haven’t submitted paperwork to get the ball rolli...

Re: Son at Japanese uni graduating later than 4yrs

Many thanks to all of you who have responded with comments and guidance. Reassuring to know that it’s not as uncommon as I thought it might be. It’s now all about maximizing the rest of his time at Uni, whilst developing his already fine character. The good news is that he seems more settled and foc...

Son at Japanese uni graduating later than 4yrs

My son (British father, Japanese mother) is studying at a uni in Japan. For reasons I won’t go into, he struggled to fit in initially (something we were unaware of for longer than we should’ve been) and, as a result, he missed a significant number of classes and coursework. Consequently, his GPA dro...

Re: Strategy for the 2025 NISA

Cheers. I’ve yet to set up the Tsumitate side. Only started NISA late last year and scrabbled to get lump sums in in December and earlier this year. Need to set up monthly contributions soon. So emaxis slim all country is still the way to go?

Re: Strategy for the 2025 NISA

Hi all Wow! It’s been a rough couple of days on the markets. Things not looking too good so far, with pretty much all gains on the US markets since last December wiped out in the past few weeks. Dollar has weakened considerably too in the past 24hrs, all of which has had a direct impact on my NISA a...

Re: UK Uni study as ‘home’ student

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions. Very helpful. As I suspected, I won’t meet any of the standard criteria and I imagine the only UK Unis that might consider my daughter’s case would be the less popular/successful ones. She’s never lived in the UK at any point, never mind studying there...

UK Uni study as ‘home’ student

Hi all I’m a UK citizen, married to a Japanese national. We have a soon to be 16yr old daughter between us. My daughter currently doesn’t have a UK passport, but I’m planning to apply for this shortly. My daughter has studied entirely in the Japanese education system and besides school study, some o...

Re: Still not sold on the UK state pension

For Brits, I notice the UK pension discussion comes up often on the forum. I’m sure those of you/us who are contributing voluntarily from overseas will be aware that the extended, ‘extended’ deadline for making back payments as far back as 2006 (I think that’s it) is April 2025. Missing that deadlin...

Yes, I’m buying within my NISA account. Thanks for clarifying (and thanks for your quick reply)

Account type to choice when buying in growth section

Hi again
Managed to navigate to the buy section. Does anyone know which Account Type you need to select, when buying funds in the growth section? It’s the part just below Dividend course and (translated into English) gives 3 options: identification, general and NISA growth investment framework.
