Starting a Junior NISA in Late 2022
Hello! I finally managed to set up my child's J-NISA with Rakuten. (Much easier to do when you have only two names!) I'm guessing it would be wise to invest as much as I can before the end of the year (800,000?), then add to it monthly throughout 2023. Any advice on what to invest in with this initi...

Re: Trouble Opening a Rakuten Bank account
After ELEVEN attempts, I have finally managed to open a Rakuten account! I'd suspected it was something to do with having two middle names, but Rakuten only confirmed what the exact problem was on my final attempt. In the past, they offered no explanation on their application rejection letters, but ...

Re: Is MYDC better than yours?
If you're able to move to Monex or Rakuten that would be idea I think (the hurdle for doing so is likely high) If the OP has not started iDeCo yet then the setup process will be a pain in the neck with Shinsei too, so no additional hurdle I think. And yes, I agree with your suggestion. Forget Shins...

Is MYDC better than yours?
Greetings! Anyone had any experience with MYDC (Money Design Co., Ltd.)? My bank (Shinsei Bank) runs its iDeCo through them. https://www.dcnenkin.jp/search/product.php?mode=show&item=775 Either way, if I were to use MYDC, what product mix would you recommend for a 50 year old? I noti...

Re: Investors Trust
You would be better off dumping your "investment advisor" and retaining the services of a fee-only fiduciary financial planner that is knowledgable in cross-border issues, who will actually listen to your goals and then provide real advice on where to put your money. Any joker that has a ...

Investors Trust
Dear RJ hive minds! My investment advisor is, um... advising me to invest a US$50,000 lump sum into an Investors Trust Access product. Other Investors Trust products, such as https://www.investors-trust.com/products/product-family/evolution/ , have been mentioned in previous threads (Re: Advice soug...

Re: Trouble Opening a Rakuten Bank account
Haha! Yes, I'd read of your (funny/not funny) trials and tribulations, Moneymatters and admire your perseverance – I must watch Brazil again! Cheers for the award nomination, adamu – I'll take what I can get these days. Their lack of a physical location (not staffed by robots) is a valid concern, ze...

Trouble Opening a Rakuten Bank account
Has anyone else had trouble opening a Rakuten bank account? I'm trying to have all my finances within the Rakuten universe, but my five applications since June have all failed! If any of this helps: I'm a 15-year permanent resident, my credit rating should be fine, I work part-time, but it's a perma...
