Re: UK Pension - extending the top-up contribution deadline - Have I made the 5 April cut-off deadline?

Thanks very much for this. Using your bank transfer formula above, I could just go ahead and pay tomorrow and be in time for the 5 April 2025 deadline. In terms of payment, apparently HRMC doesn't care where the money comes from, as long as I use the correct reference for those paying from abroad. ...

Re: UK Pension - extending the top-up contribution deadline - Have I made the 5 April cut-off deadline?

I am the same situation: online seems to show class 3 but my letter from HRMC shows the low class 2 amounts. I've also been thinking about paying to beat the deadline (this is what allatsea did, see the other thread I linked to earlier), but after having spoken to friends, they convinced me to just ...

Re: UK Pension - extending the top-up contribution deadline - Have I made the 5 April cut-off deadline?

Hello! We are in almost exactly the same boat, only I submitted the CF83 form a little while ago and got a letter back from HRMC a week or two ago. Also, I was able to get through to the Future Pension Centre and they told me I would get a call back in... 8 weeks. They told me that they had "lo...

Re: UK Pension & Voluntary Payments Questions

Well, I, for one, am sure that the readers of the FT NEVER take advantage of opportunities or loopholes to benefit financially... May I ask how you actually made the payments? I.e. is there a page with bank numbers, etc.? I think I'm going to give them till around April 1 - 1 week since my first cal...

Re: UK Pension & Voluntary Payments Questions

Thank you! I was considering someting similar, to be honest. If the range is between 29 and 40 years, then paying 16 of them now would still make sense. Unless, of course, for some reason some of those years wouldn't count towards my total (which would be completely illogical, but hey, this is burea...

Re: UK Pension & Voluntary Payments Questions

FWIW I submitted CF83 online in January and received a letter from HMRC last week confirming what I need to pay, though the process on actually paying is as clear as mud. It starts off: "Before paying any shortfall, it is important to find out if your state pension will increase once you've pa...

Re: Deadline to back pay U.K. state pension approaching

Thanks, very interesting. I'm also thinking about taking J-citizenship at some point. I will probably try to pay into the UK pension for as long as possible before doing so, just in case. I don't expect to have problems receiving the eventual pension. I see. So, am I correct that it’d still be worth...

Re: Deadline to back pay U.K. state pension approaching

Just a thought - can you still claim a UK pension if you take Japanese citizenship and therefore renounce British citizenship? Can you still pay in to the system? I think the answer to the former is yes (foreign workers who've paid in can claim, right?) but I'm less sure about the latter. I am not y...
