Re: Pending- Law to revoke the permanent residency status of foreign nationals who fail to pay taxes
What I love in Japan is....Japan! When I see how my country is now compared to when I grew up, I am sad: it not the same country anymore and not for the best. So if this kind of law can help to keep the country as it is, why not! As a foreigner, I am doing my best to act like the best of the Japane...

Re: Bitcoin: So at the end of the day, is it worth it?
The irrational exuberance manifested whenever this topic comes up is enough to keep me away. We see it over and over with other Ponzi schemes and the cult-like rationalizations postulated by their victims- right before their lives are destroyed.

Re: Pending- Law to revoke the permanent residency status of foreign nationals who fail to pay taxes
It seems like a solution to a nonexistent problem. There are already laws that deal with people who don't pay tax. Not paying health insurance or nenkin are not crimes in Japan. I believe everyone should pay them, but if it is enough of an issue why not make policies to encourage everyone to pay? A...

Re: Where to Park USD
Am I over estimating the significance of the exchange rate? For example: $300,000= approx. ¥45,033,600. That’s a 50% profit, if I am calculating that correctly? Today it is worth that. That is actually about a 30% profit over what it would have been worth Pre-COVID... Who knows in the future? Witho...

Re: Where to Park USD
Where would be the most lucrative/tax advantaged place to park a few hundred thousand USD inheritance? I am a permanent Japanese tax resident. Living permanently in Japan. ... Have you properly declared the inheritance here--paid any tax due on it? Is there a significant appreciation in the inherit...

Am I over estimating the significance of the exchange rate? For example: $300,000= approx. ¥45,033,600. That’s a 50% profit, if I am calculating that correctly? There is no "profit" on a one-way foreign exchange transaction. When you say there’s no profit, do you mean no taxable profit? I...
