Re: Vanguard ETF

Do you know if deemed disposal tax (an irish tax of 41% levied on etfs every 8 years regardless of whether or not you sold the etf) applied to you if you buy these Irish domiciled etf? Re: Vanguard ETF

[Edit Apr 30, 2021: If anyone is thinking of investing in foreign domiciled products that accumulate internally, it would be prudent to check how the Japanese tax office will treat notional distributions and any subsequent capital gains from them.] rhe has raised some great points in this thread. Re: Vanguard ETF

Re: Investing through Interactive Brokers and taxes

This doesn't answer your question but what prevents you from investing in NISA and then liquidating your assets when you're about to leave? If its NISA, its tax free anyways so you don't get dinged on the capital gains. You can then take that money and transfer it to wherever you are going and then...

Faxingberlin_ wrote: Sat May 22, 2021 7:22 am Is there a limit to how much you can remit with the SMBC 三井住友銀行 online method for the 800 JPY to IB. As in if I wanted to remit 5,000,000 JPY in one go could I do this in one remittance for 800 JPY?
To answer my own question, its 3,000,000 JPY per day and 5,000,000 JPY per month

Re: Transfering money from Japan to Interactive Brokers LLC

Thank you all for sharing your experience here in such a detail. I only found this tread after having made my way through the JPY to IBKR transfer jungle. I am now aware of the following 3 good ways, which work independently and have been repeatedly tested! 1. Prestia (SMTB) swift JPY-> JPY transfe...

Re: Starting new job as contractor

I've checked with an immigration attorney, who stated that it is fine to work as a contractor as long as the role is exactly the same as my previous role, which in my case it is.
