I quite like Bernstein's "If you can" also. And Bogle, well is just Bogle.....the king.

Re: Reading/research/ Millionaire Teacher

Adding to an old post here but.... As a beginning investor, I just finished reading Hallam's "Millionaire Teacher" book. For people who haven't read it, his 9 Rules of Wealth are: 1. Spend like a millionaire or less if you want to become rich. 2. Start investing as early as possible (after...

Re: Depositing IRS a joint refund check

Not sure if it's helpful info or not but: My wife and I have also been receiving US stimulus checks (both names on the check). Called their toll free number via Skype (a free call) and was told since I lived in Japan that I could not open an account. I thanked the man and hung up. Called back 10 minutes lat...

Re: General investing advice for an American

To prep in advance, you need the bank name(s), address(es) including postal code, account number(s), type of account (=bank), and the max value of the account in 2020 converted to US$. And there's no penalty for over-reporting, so I added $1000 to each figure. Good info here⬆️. Also smart to slightl...

Re: General investing advice for an American

TokyoWart, Thanks for the quick replies. Sorry, I'm not too familiar with how this reply system / using quotes works. I'll look into Fidelity if the TDAmeritrade application is denied. Haven't heard back from them yet. Yes, married filing jointly using the FEIC doesn't allow me to have an IRA. I'm k...
