Self-employed to Company
Hello, I’m looking for some advice on whether to change from operating as self employed to opening a company in Japan. The business is currently set up with my Japanese spouse registered as self-employed with myself as a salaried employee. We both work equally on the business. We plan to expand the ...

Re: BitFlyer portfolio tracker
I use coinmarketcap portfoilio for tracking all my crypto. It doesn't automatically sync with exchanges but you manually add in your purchases on desktop and you can see everything on the app. It's very helpful if you have crypto across numerous exchanges, in a hardware wallet or in a metamask wallet.

Rakuten Points for Pension Payments
I have been paying nenkin payments for my self-employed Japanese spouse and I at the convenience store each month using the paper bills that come in the post. I just received a letter for the next tax year saying I can pay by card. This will be much more convenient than visiting the post office to p...

Re: Japanese Accountant Fee
Thanks everyone for your replies and sharing your experiences. I managed to find a local accountant who is within my budget. Communication will be in Japanese but I think my Japanese level is enough to manage that. I'm going to look into doing the filing myself in the future. I do have some experien...

Re: Japanese Accountant Fee
I'm not a business-owner and so don't file a blue tax form, but my accountant has quoted me around 150,000-200,000 JPY just for filling out my kakuteishinkoku with the appropriate information. On one hand, I want someone knowledgeable to do it for me and ensure I don't miss anything, but on the oth...

Re: Japanese Accountant Fee
I'm interested in these figures, which seem enormous for filling in a form. As the operator of the business, you presumably have to keep records of everything, so how do you hand these records over to the accountant? What work do they do other than transferring these records to some standard accoun...

Re: Japanese Accountant Fee
I posted a few weeks ago about my Japanese accountant charging 200,000 yen for a blue tax return as a sole proprietor with spouse (me) as an employee. However, before doing the tax return I confirmed exactly what the price would be and have been told 400,000 yen! I went to meet another accountant fa...

Re: Japanese Accountant Fee
Thanks for sharing the rate you pay in Japan, that's interesting to know that lower prices are available! I'm going to try and find someone cheaper for next year for around the same price you pay. For the UK limited company, I think I was quoted around £750 by a local accountant in rural Scotland fo...
