Re: NISA at 47 years of age
As of end of April, all country is already 3.5% Nvidia 0.9% Tesla (Microsoft and Apple were the highest at 4.6% and 4.1% but I'm guessing it's Nvidia now). Don't think this is possible. Not so popular in Japan.saslearner wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 9:27 am I already invest in all country funds and was trying to get more specific exposure to European stocks.

I think What RetireJapan is referring to is the total contribution period which is used to calculate your tax free retirement income tax allowance. The more years you contribute, the higher that retirement income tax free allowance becomes, as it’s calculated based on amount of years enrolled and c...

Another option is to simplify your life by using an All-Country fund. There are a few available.
All-Country
All-Country excluding Japan
Developed Markets - for those not interested in emerging markets (EM), which has a large China bias.

Hmmm. Neither is a bad choice.
If we agree that self-employed = slightly higher risk than a full-time company employee, I would go for maximizing NISA. Of course keep contributing to iDeCo as well, but at a lower rate than your current 67,000/68,000yen per month.

Eh? Every employer I have had in Japan has deducted my pension contributions directly from my pay packet.... A lot of English language schools didn't use to. They classified all native teachers as part-time workers. At that time, someone paying in 24 years into nenkin would get nothing in return. S...

Re: All Index Funds Sufficient (article in Japanese)
I had an interesting chat with a banker last night, from a European bank which offers investment products. I asked him if they just deal with high net worth individuals, since they don't have NISA etc so aren't really competing against the low-fee brokers. He explained that no, they target regular i...
