Re: Work problems.
My understanding of that is five full time employees. Agreed that is what it looks like but it may be a bit more complex than that. This is the source: https://www.nenkin.go.jp/service/kounen/tekiyo/jigyosho/20150518.html Part-timers are also included if they do 3/4 of the work of 'full-time/regula...

Re: Market Fluctuations
3 or 4 months is too short a time period to make any judgments. Keep plugging away for a few years. If things go according to plan, you will see nice positive numbers on your account then.

Re: Work problems.
And if anyone has any evidence for any of these that I can use to show my boss, that’d be greatly appreciated Here are some details in English. Better of course to find the Japanese. https://www.jetro.go.jp/en/invest/setting_up/section4/page9/ You can find out this info with a bit of Google searchi...

Re: Work problems.
Ah yes. I can understand the confusion. The uploaded document is just an example. It’s not my hours. It just says “teacher A” and teacher B” as examples for hours worked to paid holiday. As I said, I work roughly 32 hours a week. 5 days a week. Your employer seems to be trying to classify you as a ...

Re: New Nisa - Details on the allowed index funds in the Tsumitate Portion
I just saw your post from last November about how ETF dividend re-investing works in NISA. I too am kind of interested in this although I recognise also that buying mutual funds in NISA is much more tax efficient . Are you investing for the long-term? If so, why would you volunteer to pay more tax ...

Public or private school/uni? Big difference there.
captainspoke has shared his numbers for public uni on another thread discussing education costs.

Re: Voluntary UK pension contribution
Despite what it seems, whether you can pay class 2 or not is pretty clearly defined. Despite the bit about ‘Immediately before going abroad, you were ordinarily an employed or self-employed earner in the UK’ I think this definition of ordinarily employed is a bit vague, isn't it? That is why many p...

Re: Prestia ATM fee policy change from Oct 2023
I don’t want to sign up to any of their rip-off investments though. Starting to be tempted to open a second bank account if there are any that offer fee free transfers. Take a look at SONY bank and AEON bank. Both have some requirements to get extra free transfers, but they are not so onerous. http...

Re: NISA and IDeCo - best investment fund choices
I don't think anyone here is qualified to give you advice on what funds to invest in. If you read around the forum you can see which funds are commonly purchased. There are also awards for these things in Japan. The eMaxis Slim series wins a fair share of these prizes. I also use Rakuten for iDeCo. ...
