Re: SBI Tsumitate NISA Bonus rule change
Although the unlucky punter who starts on the NISA journey mid-year will need to go through a right old rigmarole to use up their tsumitate quota (which is what I needed to do since I started at Monex this June!), I am guessing that in the fullness of time, it will be possible to use up the whole 1...

Re: Cryptocurrencies
It's a great mistake to reject doing the minimum research about Bitcoin (just read a single book, "The Bitcoin Standard", and then when you get the basics, follow some relevant twitter/youtube accounts (if you understood the book, it will be easy to find that people. It is not an optional ...

Re: Temporarily leaving Japan - what happens to my stocks/NISA?
It depends on the bank/broker, but for temporary overseas stays (for work etc.) they will usually freeze the account and let you use it again when you come back. Check with your bank/broker for their specific policies.

Re: NISA at 47 years of age
It kind of depends on when you will need the money, and what other assets (cash? real estate? your home? pensions?) you have. But 47 is not particularly old. I'm 47 :? Assuming you live a normal life, you might expect to be alive for another 3-4 decades. So you likely have enough time for your stock...

Re: Cryptocurrencies
Well, nothing has any inherent value unless it is agreed by the people who use it - gold, fiat money, tulip bulbs, salt, stones with holes in or whatever. Bitcoin is no different in that respect. True, but anyone can create a new cryptocurrency (fork) any time by copying the code. Why should crypto...

Re: Cryptocurrencies
Still don't understand why a particular cryptocurrency should have value, but the amount of institutional buy in to Bitcoin and maybe Etherium makes me feel they are not going to go away anytime soon. The tax situation in Japan is pretty bad, but could be changed any time. My take is that I am doing...

Re: How to reduce paying income tax?
Years ago we joined the Small Business Mutual Aid program (小規模企業共済) to reduce paying tax. But aside from the usual suspects of Ideco and Nisa, are there any other ways of reducing? Our accountant suggested paying more into SBMA. Thanx. There is also the セフティ共済 business insurance/emergency savings s...
