unbelievably it has taken until now for the relevant information to come through, they did contact me about six months ago but there was an error (they thought I'd lived in England in 2015, but it was actually 2005...go figure) so I wrote back with the correct information and finally the other week ...

ok read that thread, very helpful! And good to hear I might be able to pay as Class 2 (I have 4 years) if I persevere.......and not at 750GBP per year (which would be beyond the budget....) Hi, I'm a UK national and I came to Japan when I was 22 so have barely paid anything at all into the UK National Insurance...however this forum says the UK NI is a good investment, so I went and had a look... You have: 4 years of full contributions 21 years to contribute before 5 April 2041 26 years...
