Re: March net worth update

It's been a bit crazy. I had to withdraw 1M each month for living expenses and plus, and every month the asset balance bounced back to where it was just before withdrawal. I'm happy that I didn't lose but then on the other hand I would be 3M richer if I didn't have to :) But unemployment is a bitch ...

Getting tired of Monex

Because for a ton of different operations requires me to call their helpline and ask them to send the papers. I'd rather minimize that so I'm considering moving to a different ideco provider now that I'm also changing jobs (and because of short stint of unemployment, the contributions stopped) where...

I thought this might be the case.

Just did a quick calc, the spread I'd be confident to predict that might happen is less than 9%, so yeah I better invest now.

Thanks for the clarification! :)

Re: Simple Q&A - Stock market investing

Super dumb question Does it matter at all the JPY/USD exchange rate when investing into, let's say, eMaxis Slim S&P500 fund? Should I wait for the yen to get a bit stronger before investing? I had a rather large fallout (settlement from illegal dismissal) that I'd rather not keep in my bank acco...

Last electricity bill was 41k, and I do use all the 200V appliances and charge the car exclusively during the night. Night-time (after 1AM) usage is around 650kWh per month. New electronic certificates from MyNaPortal

Just got an mail from mynaportal, basically giving me another small christmas gift this year.

Re: Should I Change My Name?

I would, had tons of troubles with my name since it has one of those special nordic characters too that gets transliterated in a weird way. Anyway, several years back I removed the middle name from my name, so now katakanisation of my name is just 4+3 characters. Got the alias, have been using it fo...

Re: how to buy eMAXIS Slim 先進国株式インデックス

Yeah, time-in-the-market, apart from a very few specific points in history, beats timing-the-market. The reason why dollar-cost averaging in the long run (if you already have the cash) is a bad strategy is that you're basically betting that the market is going to go down. For example, S&P500 has...

Yeah sounds a bit convoluted arrangement. Time to check if I can transfer USD out of Shinsei account then.

Re: Sending USD straight to Rakuten Securities from overseas

Well, it's a little bit funny in a way that if I go to the customer's help page (only accessible if you have a securities account), then that warning isn't there. https://i.imgur.com/gYaxBlL.png But since the swift stuff isn't there either, I'm leaning into that it has to be on a bank account of tho...
