Applied for my PR yesterday at Tachikawa on Tokyo. I asked the chap at the desk how long it would take to receive an answer and he said 7 to 8 months. The wait begins. I can't seem to find any application documents to print in any of the links on this thread. Did you have to pick them up, fill them...

It was indeed good news, new residence card delivered in five minutes with a pleasing permanent status on it. Thanks for the help/encouragement on the forum and if anyone needs any advice on applying (particularly via the spouse route), I obviously have recent experience so don’t hesitate to ask he...

As mentioned above, one of the main concerns is the chance of being stranded in a country alone and along with cognitive decline, losing the ability to communicate (in Japanese).
