Our favourite staycation: just opposite Kinkasan in Miyagi

Sometimes it’s good to get away.

For my wife and me, a quick trip to the edge of Miyagi, just past Ishinamaki and opposite the holy island of Kinkasan, is our favourite way to do that.

What’s your favourite staycation?

Started reading Transition, by Iain M. Banks. Don’t know why I hadn’t read it before. Really interesting (non-Culture) sci-fi.

One Response

  1. Staycations–when the kids were young we used to go up the Noto peninsula about halfway. Twice a year was the norm, later May after golden week, then again in September or so. One night at some cabins on a beach (never the tents), and one on Notojima for the aquarium and some other attractions. Sometimes just us, other times we’d convince other families to come along, and do a group BBQ or something. Later (post kids), a couple times I rode a bike up to the cabins for an overnight (~90km), and my wife drove, and we’d both get home the same way.
