Take a moment to celebrate the win before moving on to the next one

illegally dumped tires on my way to work

I’m back from Miyakojima (turns out five days/four nights was the perfect length of trip). Had a great time, got some diving in, realised I need to practice my snorkelling a lot more, learned that the summer sun in Okinawa is just too strong for me, and was happy to come home at the end.

Having the Guide to NISA done is a huge weight off, and I am trying to celebrate that before moving on to the next task on the list. Feeling good.

The RetireJapan Guide to NISA 2024 edition

Was finally published yesterday! Eight months in the making, I had been thinking about it since late 2023.

If you bought the game during the presale, or bought a previous version, you should have received an email about it on Sunday June 30th. If you didn’t, please check Gumroad and then drop me an email if you can’t find the new edition.

If you want to share the link with friends, the sale page is here.

Life-changing breakthrough book

My wife is reading this book at the moment, and for the first time ever is talking to me about personal finance, investing, and retirement (I have talked AT her about these topics for decades, but a two-way conversation is a pleasant improvement).

This week’s books

Read the first three books of the Defiant series by Brandon Sanderson. It’s Young Adult science fiction, and not his best, but still a light, fun read. Should finish the fourth book today. If you haven’t read him before start with the Mistborn books instead, but if you’re a fan this isn’t bad.

Forbidden product of the week

I used to be very into wargames, and also Games Workshop games. It’s been a couple of decades now, but I saw this today and… I’m tempted.

Not sure my retirement would survive me getting back into this hobby though!
