Unseasonably warm edition

It was so warm this morning I had to strip down to my t-shirt walking my granddaughter to school. Eeek. The future is… disturbing.

In more cheerful news Kitakyushu JALT will be hosting a RetireJapan lecture on March 21st (more details when we have them). I’m also hoping to organise a longer seminar in Fukuoka on March 22nd, but need some local knowledge. If you are based in Fukuoka and could help with finding a venue and getting the word out please get in touch 🙂

We’re getting close to the end of the year. If you haven’t finished funding your NISA account now is the time to do it. Don’t leave it too late, or you may find the funds going into your 2020 account instead of 2019!

  1. I never heard back on my information I fed you on the various Nenkin/Retirement issues. Kokumin…kyosai…kakyunin etc. I am very attuned as to how they all work…especially for divorces.

    1. Not sure what you mean. This might have slipped through the cracks… apologies! Was this an email?

  2. #18–disconnected life
A while back I explored “volunteer” teaching on the Peace Boat. Tho it does port fairly often, there are some stretches when it doesn’t, and whichever it is, at sea there is no internet. One comment somewhere said that once disembarked, passengers often made a beeline for the nearest free wifi.

  3. That “ultimate reading list” seemed particularly interesting, until it recommended The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. Now I’m dubious about anything on that list.

  4. “Operating on an unconstrained schedule, Hassan fell into a biphasal pattern, in which you sleep for a while, wake up and do some activity, and then go to sleep for a while longer.”
    – interesting –

“High-income people tend to be lonelier types than those earning less – but they also tend to like being alone. ”
    – not that I’m high income…but being an introvert, I find that solitude opens me to the world around me more –
