Rain, rain, go away…

Dogen posted a joke the other day: “During Japan’s rainy season Godzilla returns to the ocean because it makes him feel less wet”. Makes sense to me!

If I wanted cool, dark, gloomy weather I would have stayed in the UK 😉

  1. I think the subtitle to #6 (quantum computers) could have been the same as the tag for #3–If Turing Were Alive to See This.

And #8–sorry Ben (and everyone), but I own some RDS. It was my choice among the majors. It was and still is rated really well…

  2. Mr. Tanaka,

Where, may I ask, do you get the arrogance to assume that you know more than your fellow man and that by following only you, we can find what, financial salvation, heaven, redemption? I am curious as to why you feel that you have the requisite knowledge and insight to lead us into the light? It dumbfounds me that so-called intelligent people as yourself seem to feel that you know the way to what, I don’t know, but I am gobsmacked by your arrogance that you think you have all the answers! It amazes me that there are people who assume they are smarter than others! What are your qualifications?

Dazed and confused in the world of humankind.

    1. Wow, it is sad to see a comment like this. Gary, if you don’t like the site, then don’t visit it. Move on and find your own place where you feel at home.

This site is helping many people, which I think is obvious from the engagements on the forum. Personally, I’m thankful for the existence of a site like this, it is helping me. To me your comment is more arrogant than anything else I have seen on the site.

    2. How are you helping people here iGary?
What do you know about investing?
      Let’s hear your ideas

    3. I find Ben a good source of information about ex-pat investing and financial planning in Japan. I use his insights and experience as a path to do further research on some topics relevant to me. Otherwise, I enjoy reading some of the articles he posts.
He seems to do his homework on topics and brings experiences to the discussions.
Not sure what your problem is with him.
      Your post seems uncalled for.

    4. Personally, I like the absence of arrogance, and the prevailing sense that working toward financial goals is both an exploration, *and* a collaboration.

Guest posts are encouraged/welcomed, and there are user posts from the forum that have been featured/reposted here. And anyone is free to respond in either place with added info, details, quirks, cautions, and even criticisms. (You do know that the site has a user forum, don’t you?) And that collaboration extends to The Monday Read. I’ve occasionally suggested an article for that list, and I’m sure others have, too.

It’s a big world–pretty lonely to navigate alone. Mutual participation along with others is far, far better.

    5. Where is this even coming from, Gary? Of all the sites I go to, this is one of the least arrogant ones I’ve ever seen. Ben is always extremely careful to call out that he doesn’t have all the answers, and asking people to confirm his findings with their own research and how they apply to their personal experience.

Keep up the good work Ben.
