Pain Edition
This has been a very mixed month for me. In some ways, it has been fantastic. My work situation is more flexible and I am feeling energised.
On the other hand, I have injured both hands (one falling off a bicycle, one at jiu-jitsu) and then last Monday I wrecked my back carrying 55″ TVs on my own, and I’ve been almost completely incapacitated since ๐
Thought I was getting better, then I picked my grandson up and undid all the progress I had made (and more).
Another reason to try to fix my health and fitness going forward. Forget the centenarian Olympics, I need to worry about the mid-40s Olympics…

Tokyo Meetups
ACX Tokyo is the official meetup for fans of the popular blog Astral Codex Ten (formerly Slate Star Codex).
ACX Tokyo has been meeting monthly since mid-2021 in English and in Nakameguro, Tokyo to have fun caring about nuance, to discuss hard questions inspired by rationalism and ACX, and to change perspectives and get over our biases with other people who have patience for such things.
To join in, feel free to get in touch in any of the many ways to do so. It’s useful to be in contact before coming to an event, to help with that first leap of faith.

Americans who moved to Japan to retire
Someone from the Wall Street Journal reached out to me this week. They are looking for an American couple who moved to Japan to retire to interview them for an article in a series on retiring abroad. Seems they will pay participants.
If you meet the requirement or know someone who does, leave a comment or send me an email and I’ll put you in touch with the editor ๐
