Can we help you?
We’ve been gettting lot more enquiries about our online coaching service recently, so it might be useful to go over what it is and what kind of help we can provide -as well as what we can’t.
This post will also be useful to refer people to if they are interested in learning more about the coaching 😉
Who can we help?
Well, in the past we have covered the following topics in coaching sessions:
- explaining how investing works and giving recommendations to get started for someone with no experience
- looking at someone’s investment portfolio and giving feedback/suggestions
- giving advice on buying a home
- talking about insurance
- going over health insurance and pension rules
- helping someone fill in the forms to apply for a broker account
- talking about various options for a portfolio
- talking about the pros and cons of NISA, iDeCo, and taxable accounts
Many of our clients are in great financial shape and pretty much know what they need to do -they are just looking for someone to confirm that they are on the right track.
Others are less confident and need some basic information and advice.
There are also a few things we can’t do:
- we can’t currently work with US citizens because we don’t know enough about IRS rules and regulations
- we can’t do detailed tax or insurance advice
- we can’t manage your money for you -yet 😉
And of course most people probably don’t need coaching. By reading around the site, asking questions in the forum, and reading some of the resources we link to you can get the same information we provide in the coaching -for free.
But if you want to save time or are looking for a bit of reassurance, we’d be happy to hear from you.
How the coaching works
It’s pretty straightforward.
- First, you get in touch using the contact form on the RetireJapan site or by email (info@retirejapan.info).
- Then you send a quick overview of your situation and what you would like to cover in the session. Any information provided will be treated in confidence and not divulged to anyone else.
- If we think we can help you and provide value, we then schedule an online session. We may send follow-up questions.
- The online coaching session is done over Skype, Google Hangouts, or similar. The session is 45 minutes, but occasionally we go over slightly. Some people need more than one session, or do a follow up a few months later.
- After the session we send an email with notes from the session, some suggestions or action points, and an invoice. If you were unsatisfied with the session you don’t have to pay for it, but we would appreciate some feedback on what we could do better.
Er, that’s it.
An online coaching session is 8,800 yen, and for most of our clients we provide value in excess of 100x that by giving them the confidence to take control of their financial situation.
If you would like to see if online coaching would help you, please get in touch, and if you know anyone who needs help it would be great if you could share this post with them.
I used this service about a year ago. I had read through much of the site by that time, but it was extremely useful to ask all of my questions live with Ben. I already had a retirement plan in place, but talking to Ben helped my realize I was on the right track, and just as importantly, I tweaked some of my strategies after the consultation. Thanks again, Ben.
Hi Kevin
Great to hear you found it useful, and thanks for the endorsement 🙂
